Insurance with Pelican
At Pelican, we place a strong emphasis on security and reliability, as it is our job to look after your belongings while they are in storage. That's why we've created a specially tailored insurance policy for rental storage that covers the full value of your storage space in the unlikely event of damage.
The insurance has been developed in cooperation with Reason Global Insurance, a company specialising in rental storage insurance, and there is no excess. Below you can read more about our insurance cover and why insurance is a requirement at Pelican.

Why should I have insurance?
Insurance is your protection against financial loss in the event of damage to your stored property. Even if the risk seems small, a fire, water damage or burglary, for example, can have serious consequences. Insurance protects you against these unexpected circumstances, which is why Pelican has insurance as a requirement for storage. This requirement is not just a formality, but a way to ensure that your valuables are in good hands. However, if a loss should occur, insurance ensures that you will be compensated and you can avoid financial worries by focusing on what is important to you.
There is never a deductible on Pelican insurance.
- Freedom to choose the level of insurance that suits you
- In the event of an accident, our insurance company will take care of everything with you
What is covered by Pelican insurance?
The insurance offered by Pelican is very comprehensive. Unlike many other insurance companies, it covers the entire value of the storage space without any deductible. Our insurance covers, among other things:
- Damage to property caused by fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, storm, flood, burst or leakage of pipes, ingress of water or other liquids
- Moths, insects or pests due to an external cause
- Burglary and theft
- Damage as a result of vandalism
In the unlikely event that your storage space and belongings are exposed to any of these risks, we're here to help!

How do I get insurance?
As a Pelican customer, taking out insurance is easy and hassle-free.
When you book a storage space through our online booking system, you will be asked to select your insurance level after you have chosen your space. You will then only need to pay and sign a rental agreement, which includes an insurance document. The insurance will take effect on the selected move-in date.
Instead, if you make a booking by phone or by visiting one of our offices, we will help you to take out insurance.

Use your own insurance
If you do not wish to take out Pelican insurance, you can also use your own insurance for your storage space. However, it is good to know that few insurance companies offer the same level of comprehensive cover without a deductible as the insurance we offer.
If you use your own insurance, it is important to make sure that your insurance meets the same conditions as the insurance offered by Pelican. You can find them in our policy conditions.
To rent a storage space with your own insurance, you must be able to prove that your insurance meets these conditions.
At the moment, it is not possible to make an online booking with your own insurance. Therefore, you will need to come in person to our office to present the necessary insurance documents so that your booking can be finalised together with our staff.
